31 Day Reset – Day 24 – Make a new friend

I am participating in the 31 Day Reset which is a life coaching challenge hosted by Rosetta Thurman on her blog Happy Black Woman. So far I have really been enjoying the challenge and I hope that you enjoy following me along on this challenge. If you are interested in doing the challenge, click here.

When it comes to friends, I am very selective. I do not just let anyone into my life. That may sound a little “stuck up” or crazy but I have been crossed many people who I automatically considered friends. Because of this, it is hard for me to make friends. For day 23 of the 31 Day Reset I joined a community to help support my goal of losing weight and getting healthy, that community was MyFitnessPal. My plan was to make a few “friends” on that website and maybe even find a person from that site that lives in my local area that I can have for a workout buddy.

While navigating the site, I noticed that it is not as user-friendly as SparkPeople. There did not seem to be any groups to join, no articles, recipes, or member pages to browse like on SparkPeople. My plan to make a new friend for this challenge is pretty much on hold until I close my account on MyFitnessPal and open a new one on SparkPeople.

31 Day Reset – Day 21 – Ditch the Debbie Downers!

Day 21 of the 31 day reset is to remove negative people from your life. I actually did not have to complete this exercise because the negative people that were in my life have already been removed. In 2008, I divorced my husband who was very negative (he was verbally abusive and controlling), last summer a  girl friend of mine that is quite judgmental moved to from here back to the East Coast. I have periodically gone through my personal Facebook page and unfriended people that really did not respond to my status updates or posts that I make on their pages (I mean, you can’t respond to a simple hello!?) and I am really thinking of deactivating that account but there is family that I communicate with on there because I am not really a phone person. I have also already deactivated my Facebook fan page and facebook page associated with my YouTube user name. The only person that is left to work on is me. I am often a debbie downer because I am hard on myself, I do not recognize my accomplishments, and I can go on and on. However, this is the reason why I am doing the 31 Day Reset. If I have to, I will do the 31 Day reset as many times as needed to open up my mind to all of the possibilities and reset my life!

31 Day Reset – Day 19 – Reviving my love life

I am a day behind on the challenge but that is ok. The exercise for Day 19 of the 31 Day Reset is to revive your love life. There were 2 options to complete this exercise. The first option is to do something for your partner that you have not done since you first met. The other option gave tips to find love if you do not have a partner. Here were my plans for reviving my love life.

One of the things I used to do for my boyfriend was to give him a nice back massage. He would lay down on the bed, I would turn off the lights, play soft slow music, light some candles and work the kinks out of his back. Most times he  would be snoring when I was done because of how relaxed he was. My plan was to do that for him yesterday but my plan failed. He did not get home until 8 pm and he still had extra work to do out in our garage. He is a motorcycle mechanic and he was working on a few side jobs in our garage that he must get done by Friday. Needless to say, I did not have the opportunity to execute my plan last night or tonight. Hopefully I will at some point over the weekend. I have good intentions so I guess that should count for something on this exercise. We shall see….

31 Day Reset – Day 17 – Ditch TV for 24 hours

The exercise for Day 17 of the 31 day reset is to Ditch TV for 24 hours. It was pretty easy to do yesterday because most of the day I was out with my boyfriend. We were away from home all day, returned home at 5 pm. He then left me home for a while and I soaked in the tub, read a book but because it was too quiet I turned on my living room TV and walked away. I wanted it to feel like someone was home.  I went into my bed room and took a power nap, read some more, recorded a video and went to bed. I guess I did well, I just had to explain to my boyfriend what I was doing when he wanted us to watch a movie together and spend quality time together.

31 Day Reset – Day 15 – Time Audit

When I saw today’s exercise for the 31 Day Reset  my first thoughts were time audit??….on Christmas Eve?? As I read further into the exercise I saw that I could do a time audit of a previous day or an overview of the week. I have been off all week and the focus was to relax and to spend time with my family, so I decided to do a time audit on Tuesday. Here is how my day went:

6:00 – 7:00 – Sleep

7:00 – 8:00 – Wake up/shower

8:00 – 9:00 – Breakfast

9:00 – 10:00 – Drive downtown to the Arizona Science Center

10:00 – 11:45 – Self-guided tour of the AZ Science Center

11:45 -12:30 – “Arizona Sky”  Show inside the Dorrance planetarium

12:30 – 1:15 – Lunch at the AZ Science Center

1:15 – 2:30 – “Saturn Jewel of the Night Sky” show in the Dorrance planetarium

2:30 – 3:30 – Drive home, pick up daughter(home from school), leave for dinner

3:30 – 5:00 – Dinner

5:00 – 6:00 – Drop daughter off at work, head to Best Buy, then Target

6:00 – 7:00 – Target, then Wal-Mart

7:00 – 8:00 – Wal-Mart (different one) – bought Christmas Tree/decorations/a few presents

8:00 – 9:00 – Pick up daughter from work, return home

9:00 – 11:00 – Movie with family

11:00 – 12:00 – YouTube

12:00 – 6:00 – Sleep

While doing this exercise, I honestly feel as if I did not discover anything about myself while completing this time audit. The entire day was spent with my family and normally when I have time off I will spend it alone, in my room on YouTube, watch movies or sleep. I feel that Tuesday as well as every day this week was a great example of strengthening my relationship with my family as an effort to improve the lifestyle, relationship and family aspects of my life assessment.
